To Letha Linn, my grandmother

(January 28, 1897 - April 21, 1998)

Many years ago she took note of my interest in history and shared with me old family stories and photographs. Her continued patience and willingness to answer my ancestral questions were so encouraging during the preparation of the first three editions of this work. It is, therefore, an honor for me to dedicate this genealogy to her.
