9. Martha Catharine² Linn (Andrew¹)⁽¹⁸⁹⁾ was born circa 1808. Martha died after 1880.

She married John Crispen.⁽¹⁹⁰⁾ John was born in Lycoming Co., PA August 9, 1806. John⁽¹⁹¹⁾ was the son of Mr. Nicholas Crispen and Elizabeth Unknown. John died December 14, 1852 in Mill Hall, PA, at 46 years of age. His body was interred in Bald Eagle, Clinton Co., PA. John's occupation: Sawyer.

John died of rupture of pulmonary arteries caused by cough and is buried in Brown Cemetery (01409:4). __________________________Further Research Required Sources 00947 and 01409:4 list John Crispen's birth month as July while source 00838 notes it as August.

Mr. Lingle notes that in 1840, John and Martha were the parents of two sons and two daughters (00836:5). The family of John and Martha was listed as new to Beech Creek during the 1830s (00853:108). __________________________Further Research Required Sources 00947 and 01409:4 list her birth year as circa 1811 while it was deducted from source 00838 that her birth year may have been circa 1808. It is the opinion of Brian Linn that 00947 & 01409:4 are the more reliable but a definitive answer should be obtained. Martha was listed in 1860, 1870 and 1880 census records as a widow and the 1880 census lists her as Catherine Crispen in Mill Hall, Pennsylvania (01409:4). A copy of each census record should be obtained. Rebecca Herring, the first wife of Daniel Herring may have been a daughter of John and Martha and she died on April 11, 1874 at the age of 44 (00836:5). No other sources located to date have supported this possibility but it must be examined.

Martha Catharine Linn and John Crispen had the following children:

+ 64 i. William T.³ Crispen was born circa 1832.

65 ii. Martha E. Crispen⁽¹⁹²⁾ was born circa 1834.

66 iii. Margaret J. Crispen⁽¹⁹³⁾ was born circa 1836. Margaret died October 7, 1848 at 12 years of age. Her body was interred in Clinton Co., PA. Margaret died at age 11 years, 11 months, 23 days and is buried in Brown Cemetery (01409:9).

+ 67 iv. John Wesley Crispen was born April 14, 1839.

68 v. Mary A. Crispen⁽¹⁹⁴⁾ was born circa 1844.

+ 69 vi. Joseph Reese Crispen was born February 26, 1846.

70 vii. Emma Virginia Crispen⁽¹⁹⁵⁾ was born 1851. Emma died 1884 at 33 years of age. Her body was interred in Cedar Run, Clinton Co., PA. Emma didn't marry during her 33 years of life. She worked in a woolen factory and is listed on the 1880 census as Single. (01409:9)
