Harrison Miller came here (Beech Creek, PA) when a young man with George D. Hess and Alvin H. Knecht from Easton, PA., and comprised the firm of Hess, Knecht & Miller, operating the "Company store" when Saylor, Day & Morey operated the big saw mill here from 1860 to 1875. Mr. and Mrs. Miller later moved to West Bay City, Mich., where Mr. Miller died in 1891 and his widow in 1924, two sons and three daughters surviving. (00838:60) Beech Creek Township grew rapidly from the time of its formation in 1850 and in 1869 it was granted a borough charter. Mr. Miller was an officer of the borough in 1869. (00853:8 & 9)
Harrison and Amanda Linn Miller moved to Beech Creek, as a family unit, during the 1860s (00853:114). Actually, it was very late in the 1860s as Sarah and John were married at the home of John Mason by the Reverend Thomas F. McClure in 1869 (01409:8). According the Beech Creek News of July 7, 1928 she died in 1924 (00838:60). __________________________Further Research Required Source 01409:17 lists another child born to Harrison and Amanda simply as Daughter. The same source also references the Lock Haven Express 7-7-1928 Beech Creek News. Another question arises: is, or perhaps was, the Beech Creek News a section of the Lock Haven Express?
