431. Howard F.⁵ Linn (Joseph Brittain⁴, James Andrew³, Joseph Britton², Andrew¹)⁽²⁵⁸⁵⁾ was born in Beech Creek, Clinton Co., PA October 30, 1904.⁽²⁵⁸⁶⁾ Howard died January 9, 1982 in Loomis, CA, at 77 years of age. His body was interred 1982 in Loomis, CA.

He married Florence R. Barton circa 1925.⁽²⁵⁸⁷⁾ Florence was born in Jersey Shore, Lycoming Co., PA. (Additional notes for Florence R. Barton⁽²⁵⁸⁸⁾) Florence died April 21, 1980. Following is a quote from a letter written by Howard F. Linn to Harry Lingle (00838:58). "I lost my dear wife, Flo; April 20, 1980 - we were married 55 yrs; beautiful marriage - 2 - girls beside Ron. Flo had heart attack - instant - thank God - tough on all of us though."

Howard graduated in Beech Creek, Clinton Co., PA, 1923. Institution: institution unknown.⁽²⁵⁸⁹⁾ In June of 1980 he noted his address as 6560 Itchy Acre Road, Loomis, California 95650, which was also the address of his daughter Ann Kane (00838:58). ________________________OBITUARY - HOWARD F. LINN (00838:59) JERSEY SHORE - Word has been received here of the death of Howard F. Linn, 77, at the home of his daughter in Loomis, Calif. on Jan. 9, 1982. He was born in Beech Creek on Oct. 20, 1904, a son of Britian and Carrie Lingle Linn. He was a former resident of Jersey Shore, having been a barber in this area for a number of years. He was married to the former Florence R. Barton of Jersey Shore, who preceded him in death in 1980. Surviving are one son, Ronald Linn of Tarzana, Calif.; two daughters, Carol Morgan of Citrus Heights, Calif., and Ann Kane of Loomis, Calif., with whom he resided; three brothers, Herbert G. Linn, Orlando Fla.; William B. Linn, Sarasota, Fla., and Brook C. Linn, Jersey Shore and eight grandchildren. Burial took place in Loomis. __________________________Further Research Required According to Helen Linn, Howard's tombstone reads Lynn; she believed that he changed the spelling of his last name (01062:1). However, that is in direct contradiction with the obituary and the letter that Howard sent to Harry Lingle (00838:57) where he clearly signed his name Linn. The cemetery in Loomis should be visited to further explore this matter and determine whether or not the tombstone is incorrect. The obituary for Howard (00838:59) lists his birth date as October 20, while the letter he wrote to Harry Lingle (00838:57) states that his birthday was the 30th; this writer has chosen what Howard wrote until any evidence might indicate otherwise.
