433. James McLain5 Linn (Martha V. 'Mattie'4, James Andrew3, Joseph Britton2, Andrew1)(2604) was born April 2, 1911.(2605) James died October 21, 1993 in Lock Haven, Clinton Co., PA, at 82 years of age. His body was interred 1993 in Blanchard, PA, Church of Christ.(2606)
He married Lillian Mae Martin circa 1941.(2607) Lillian was born in Blanchard, Centre Co., PA July 16, 1905.(2608) Lillian(2609) was the daughter of Clyde Martin and Rosa Chubb. Lillian died September 20, 1978 in Lock Haven, Clinton Co., PA, at 73 years of age.(2610) Her body was interred in Blanchard, PA.(2611)
Lillian was married to Harry Williams prior to her marriage to Jim Linn. Harry and Lillian had three children: Margie (Res. Blanchard, PA), Bob (Res. St Petersburg, FLA) and Kathleen (Res. York, PA). Donald Williams was born to Lillian prior to her marriage to Jim Linn but Jim acknowledges being Don's father. Jim couldn't recall exactly when he and Lillian married but he believed it was around 1941 or 1942. Jim states that he and Lillian "never got around" to correcting Don's surname. (00764) Lillian died at the Lock Haven Hospital (01409:26). She is buried in the Church of Christ Cemetery (00848:#19, 00846 & 00850:1) __________________________Further Research Required Jim Linn notes in source 00764:1 that she died on the 20th while source 01409:26 indicates the 23rd.
James graduated in Beech Creek, PA, 1929. Institution: institution unknown.(2612) Jim Linn never knew his mother and was raised by his grandparents Linn. He graduated from the high school in Beech Creek when it was still a three year program. Source 01409:26 indicates that he was reared in Martin's Grove and lived in Beech Creek during his adult life. After high school he first worked for State Roads and then for General Armature in Mill Hall. General Armature moved to Beech Creek and changed its name to Champion. Jim's third major employer was the Beech Creek Brickyard. In 1958, Jim joined Piper Aircraft and remained there until about 1973 or 1974. Jim retired from Piper and cared for his wife until her death in 1978. Jim remarked to Brian Linn that in 1992 his eyesight was very poor and reading nearly impossible. (00764:1) Jim's resided at Route 1, Box 382, Beech Creek, PA 16822 when he and Brian Linn spoke on the telephone in Janaury of 1992 (00764). In the fall of 1993, Jim was visiting friends and enjoying alcoholic beverages (perhaps too much) when he fell. He was in more than one hospital but ended up in the extended care unit at Lock Haven Hospital. Of note was that, on his deathbed, he made a confession of a life filled with wrongs: recognizing that he hadn't lived life in the best way. As a result of that recognition, he accepted Christ as his savior. (01060:1,2) Source 01409:26 lists Jim and his wife as buried in the Christian Cemetery; however, sources 00846, 00848:#19 , and 00764 all clearly indicate that she is buried in the Church of Christ Cemetery; therefore, it is reasonable to conclude that source 01409:26 has used Christian in place of Church of Christ.
