Further Research Required

Her obituary appeared in both the Clinton Republican, 17 November 1897, and the Clinton Democrat, 18 November 1897. The obituary information and a note on her date of birth indicating "Family Record" come either from either the Lingles' research (182) or Jeanne Linn's research.(183) These sources must be consulted to determine which contains which information! The Genealogy of the Linn Family (184) indicates that her mother's maiden name may have been Fredericks not Frederick. In addition, there is more ancestor information available in Jeanne Linn's Documentation and the Lingles' Linn Family Research on the family of Elizabeth James. The location of her gravesite needs to be ascertained and added to Hays-Fearon Cemetery map made on visit to the cemetery. (185)

Joseph's occupation: Farmer.

Joseph is buried in the Hays-Fearon cemetery (00846 & 00848: #2). Joseph was first assessed in Bald Eagle Township, Clinton County in 1837 as having 1 horse and 1 cow. Joseph was one of the first two supervisors when the Beech Creek Township was organized in 1850 (00853:7). ______________________________Resolved Conflict Source 00836:2 indicated that he died on the 19th; however, source 00848: #2 [cemetery photo] clearly shows that he died on the 9th; therefore, it is likely that the date listed on 00836:2 is the obituary date instead of the death date. __________________________For Additional Information See the Clinton Democrat of January 1, 1871 for Joseph's obituary (00838:40). See Biographical Records of Central PA., page 758 (01409:9). __________________________Further Research Required Apparently, Joseph's family is listed on the 1850 census of Beech Creek Twp., Clinton Co. PA as family number 45 with all his children listed, a copy of which should be obtained. Also, the census is purported to note that Joanna James was living with the family. (01409:9).
