Morrow-Linn Source 01761

A love story that began prior to World War I will be culminated at 2 p.m., Feb. 14 in the Hotchkiss Community United Methodist Church with the marriage of Edith Linn of Hotchkiss and Curtis Morrow of Paonia. The engagement and approaching marriage is announced by their children, Eugene Linn, Peggy Lou Linn Cain, Lois Morrow Frost and Genevieve Morrow Rozman. A Valentine's Day wedding is apropos for the couple who started dating when Edith was a freshman in high school at Crawford. They went together through high school and corresponded through Edith's first two years at college, but each went their separate way when she started teaching school and Curtis went into military service. They each married and raised families but remained friends after Mr. Morrow and his family returned to the North Fork Valley, with both families sharing meals and holidays. Edith's husband, Bill, died five years ago this April and Curtis' wife, Blanche, died two years ago this April. He started visiting Edith the following August, about one and one-half years ago, and they became engaged just before Christmas, 1976. Mrs. Linn is the former Edith Tuttle. She said they are not sending invitations, but are issuing a public invitation to all their friends and relatives to attend their wedding and reception following in Stewart Hall. They request no gifts.

Further Research Required

The above obituary (source 01761) notes that Edith's children are Eugene Linn and Peggy Lou Linn Cain. While this writer's previous information notes Eugene as the child of William (Edith's husband first? husband) and Delia (William's first wife), it doesn't mention Peggy. Is that because she was William and Edith's daughter? In any case, the parentage of both William and Peggy should be verified. There exists a question regarding Edith's number of marriages. Source 00838:22 lists her name a time of marriege to William as Edith Tuttle Welch where source 01761 indicates that her maiden name was Edith Tuttle. This would indicate that she had been married to a Mr. Tuttle as her first husband. This should be verified.

Further Research Required Brian Linn finds it odd that William was born in Colorado and yet graduated the Beech Creek High School in Pennsylvania (00853:25). Perhaps though ... his parents did indeed move back east for some specific reason. Maybe the great depression played a part in this. Additional research has revealed that in 1938, William married for a second time. Perhaps the reason William was living in Beech Creek is that his mother had died when he was quite young and his father needed assistance raising him (ref: source 01761).
