She married Merle Durell Hack in Piper City, Ford Co., Il, December 20, 1946.⁽²⁸⁹¹⁾ Merle was born April 13, 1922.⁽²⁸⁹²⁾ (Additional notes for Merle Durell Hack⁽²⁸⁹³⁾) Merle died December 25, 1972 at 50 years of age.⁽²⁸⁹⁴⁾ His body was interred in Cullom, Livingston Co., IL.⁽²⁸⁹⁵⁾ Merle was divorced from Adriene Louise Leiser.⁽²⁸⁹⁶⁾

Adriene was divorced from Merle Durell Hack.⁽²⁸⁹⁷⁾ Adrienne Hack remembers that her grandmothers' sisters were very special to her. Through them she tried to imagine what her grandmother, Sarah Ellen "Nellie", would have been like. She had a special love for her grandfather Frank Carpenter who lived with her family. ⁽²⁸⁹⁸⁾
